Whoever you are, wherever you are - no matter what you experienced or how hard those experiences may have been - you are still here.
You did it. And I know sometimes life gets so hard and it feels like you're barely hanging on but you are still here. I believe with all my heart that we each have within us all the strength we need to live out our lives and a little more put beside.
YOU have within you all the strength you need not only to endure, persevere and survive - but to love, live and thrive. This darkness will end and this storm will pass. I can't tell you when and I can't rescue you - though I would if I could - but I can tell you with absolute faith that there is a beautiful, colourful, joyful life ahead of you, just hold on, trust in yourself, draw from the strength within you and have faith the future, in healing and that all storms - no matter how vicious - come to an end.
Mindy McCready - I'm Still Here - beautiful, comforting and encouraging.
Whatever your battle you need to know that you are not alone. Sometimes it helps to know that and to draw strength from that. Particularly if you are battling depression, anxiety and other mental health problems(and even physical illness or social problems) which make you feel so isolated and have caused you to withdraw from others.
My best friend recently spoke about Prozac Nation - a novel Elizabeth Wurtzel which expresses her experiences of deep depression. She spoke about how much it helped to be able to connect to someone else's experiences and to know it wasnt just her fighting these battles. There is that sense of community and companionship whether you know someone who is experiencing similar issues to you are not. Sometimes just knowing there are others out there fighting too can really help and beyond that - being aware of those who have faced their battles and won them demonstrates that as difficult as this may be to push through- it's not impossible.
This is a difficult thing to acknowledge I think when you're in the midst of hard times - but these experiences help to shape who they are. They strengthen you, give you confidence in your abilities and strength and courage. It sounds a little hippy-fied but there is growth in those experiences. Personally I believe nothing is wasted. For every wound, there is potential for healing, and in that healing comes a capacity to connect with others and to say the most powerful words one can here in the midst of a lonely battle - "I Know".
This darkness will not last.
And you can be sure you can hold out for the life
because you are strong enough
you have lived thus far and
YOU SURVIVED!
